Unit 20944
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Make-up/infill of platform
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: plaster; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: Make-up/infill of platform F.7114. This unit is a compound of patches of different sediment types: red clay (up to 50% of the unit), grey mortar-like material (10% of unit), burnt sediment (in situ, found in the center of the platform -low temperature burning, no ashes formed, 10% of unit), and white plaster (30% of unit). The thick patches of plaster (up to 10cm depth) seem to be repairement episodes of the platform, as they concentrate in the edges of it and present an irregular perimeter in plan.
With the exception of the plaster the rest of the materials appear to merge into each other and they should be interpreted as one deposional event.
Consistency: Soft to firm
Colour: Whitish pale brown (plaster) to reddish brown (clay) to grey (mortar/make-up)
Texture: Clay to silty clay loam

Inclusions: Rocks (1-5% abundance), burnt sediment (5-10%)
