Unit 21187
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: bricks of wall F.7558
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: The bricks are quite variable in length, spanning from 0.45 m (1 specimen) to 0.95/1.00 m. Width and thickness are averagely 0.37 and 0.085 m, respectively.
Discussion: The bricks are variable in length (see description), but quite homogeneous in width and thickness.
Underneath the first line of bricks, the top of an earlier, heavily burnt wall have been found.
Excavated by mattock and trowel.
Since wall F. 218 was equated with F. 7558, this unit should be considered as equal to the mud brick unit 3051, which was allocated to F. 218. Any consideration of the plans/samples/finds of one should take into equal account the documentation of the other. AJM 12/07/2015.
