Unit 21192
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Mortar of wall F.7560
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: mortar; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: The mortar of wall F.7560 is disturbed by animal burrows and erosion. The mortar lines are quite varied in thickness, ranging from 0.03m to 0.06m.
Discussion: The mortar of wall F.7560 has been found quite damaged (see description), to the extent that sometimes it has been difficult to distinguish the mortar from the bricks.
Underneath the lowest line of bricks we found a thin layer of (unburnt) mortar. When we removed that, we found the upper bricks of an earlier, heavily burnt, wall (not excavated yet).
Excavated by pick and trowel.
03/07/2015: The full extent of this unit was excavated by pick and trowel in 2015 in order to reveal the wall of B.131 immediately below (f. 7705). None of the material was sampled or sieved, as this had been done in 2014 by Aldo and Agata.
