Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: crawlhole; Material: white clay; Deposition: multiple
Dimensions: 0.5 m x 0.25 m x 1mm thick
Discussion: Plastered base of step / access between spaces 70 and 71. - v narrow opening - c.0.5 m wide, height unknown but possibly it was only a small crawlhole or even just a serving hatch between the two rooms. It was clearly an original feature as the plaster on the step is continuous with the earlier plaster on the wall plaster. The plaster was however, v. thin before this was blocked, although this may relate to wear rather than fewer re-plasterings,. This is probably contemporary with another opening, a proper wider access to the North which was blocked in at the same time (see 2152)
