Unit 21642
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: infill of a midden pit
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: The infill (21642) of a pit [F.7850] was accumulated in a cut (21643). In 2015 it was possible to record only western part of the feature. Its eastern segment had been already excavated in 2012. At that time the infill was not evidenced due to the long lasted weathering processes and erosion that effected the top of the mound, where the feature was placed. For that reason the sediments within the cut were taken with surrounded deposits that were assigned as several arbitrary midden layers (20449, 20455, 20460).
However, the section that preserved along the limit of excavation eventually gave opportunity to evidence the profile of the feature (F.7850) on the post-exc. stage of research.
The infill (21642) was located within top-central part of midden deposits placed below floor surface of B.108. The archaeological material recorded in the sediment allows to interpret the nature of the infill in term of re-deposited backfill that was dug out earlier within extensive waste dumping area.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
