Unit 21707
Category: Cut dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: cut to burial on platform F.3442
Data Category Information: Description: burial
Discussion: This unit is a burial cut belonging to grave F.7406 found on the north west platform F.3442. Unit 21707 was found underlaying the white plaster layer (U.20096) primarily covering whole suface of the platform. The extent of this cut and its shape in plan started to be clear since we revealed thin plaster cap layer overlapping the burial fill (U.21706).
It is worth to note that this unit consisted of a very shallow grave cut. It seems to be directly related with the very young age of interred individual (female aprox. 38 weeks old). The infant burial (F.7406) had been discovered very soon close to the upper part/surface of the infill.
The base part of this cut seems to be determined by another white plaster layer of the platform or by some clean plastered floor surface. It seems to be more than possible that the body of this little baby was interred in the very shallow grave putting the deceased deliberately on some plastered surface.
