Unit 21780
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: make up and plaster of sunken floor next to hearth
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Discussion: This unit is a mix of make-up and plaster sitting on top of a grey layer of heavily burnt dirty floor. The surface contains a lot of many specks mainly in the western portion of the floor (next to the hearth). The soil is very patchy so it was not very easy to follow the grey floor that was supposed to be excavated by leaf trowel. The main reason for excavation of dirty area connects to the hearth on the west and with the features to the south, so we may move forward to the investigation of the earlier strata in the oven area and the platforms to the east. The grey dirty floor exposed after excavation lapped on the southern slopey edge of the unit but not on the eastern edge.
Note: It was decided to treat this lump of make up and plaster in a single unit, because the layers were very fine and the sediment very patchy. About 6 layers of white plaster grey make-up lenses and brown make up were excavated. Scattered fragments of obsidian were observed.
