Unit 22199
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial infill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Unit 22199 refears to a layer that fills the upper part of cut 32200: both units belong to burial F3810 that is situated in the southern side of platform F3811.
The layer, which is brown-grey and has a firm consistency, is very rich in salty inclusions (30%; almost 0.1 cm thick) and is almost 10 cm thick.
It is covered by the make-up layer 22198 and covers a subjacent infill (32201) of cut 32200 clearly distinct from it for its different color (brown-reddish) and inclusions (mainly charcol and clay aggregates). It is possible that 22199 is related to a specific action connected to the closure of the cut: therefore it differs from the subjacent layer. What remains unclear to me is the reason for such a high amount of salty inclusions concentrated in the upper part of the cut only: might this be related to an organic or to some other kind of top?
