Discussion: The excavation of this burial proceeded quite smoothly. We were quite interested to see thart thay had put the coffin in right by alongside Neolithic wall, which appears to have fallen in and crushed of the left side of the skeleton at some point. Because of the position of this Neolithic wall it was necessary to put this burial at an angle slightly off the East-West axis that the other. (Roman?) burials in this area were aligned with. An idea flying around the goddess pavilion: that these christians were familiar with the Neolithic architecture up here and had their own folklore about CatalHoyuk, of course they didn't call it Catal, but maybe someting like "Moundus Forkedus".
The baulk was excavated over the width of the burial in order to take out the legs of our (Roman?)
deceased, and two grave goods were found at his/her (?) feet: a ceramic amphora, about 20cm in length and in perfect condition, and a tiny little oil lamp, about 5cm in diameter.
