Unit 23139
Category: Layer dug in 2017
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Redeposit midden
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: Abrupt, prominent, smooth
Discussion: This layer correspond to latest fill of the pit U23147 and was exposed directly below the packing/levelling layers for the construction of the B-131 (U23110=23090=23084 and 23131).
The layer was pretty soft and light grey, and for the characteristics and composition at the begging we thought that was midden. This detail made difficult to see the edges of the cut U23147 in the eastern part of the building from the very top. It was after remove the layer U23139 that the edges of the pit where clearly visible in plant, and in the section exposed in the southern part of the building.
So this layer looks like a redeposit midden placed inside the pit U23147 with the intention of seal the pit. The layer seems that was thought from the east because as the rest of the deposits in the pit was clearly sloping in direction E-W. Directly above this layer we documented all the packing/levelling layers for the construction of B-131 and also the bone deposit U23136-23137.
We want to notice that this layer had been partially excavated properly only in the southern part of the building. In the northern part, the rest of the remains had been removed with the arbitrary layer U23155.
