Discussion: This layer represents a levelling and packing layer in the construction phase of building 131 and is mainly composed of compact and extremely hard yellowish and greyish silty clay. It was intentionally raised towards the midden on the east, probably in order to provide support for the subsequently built wall F7712, but maybe also to provide compact restriction against the midden. Once Justine Issavi started excavating the foundation trench of the eastern wall of building 131 (F7712) it was determined that the eastern wall F7712 truncates this layer. Intentionally raised area that provided support for the wall at the same time provided a foundation for the subsequently built platforms F7952 and F7954 along this eastern wall. 

 

Consistency: strong/compact 

Colour: light yellow mixed with light grey 

Texture: clay and silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: flecks and small fragments of charcoal and brick rubble, as well as medium aggregates of clay 

Post-depositional Features: baked 

Basal Boundary: distinct contrast, wavy form, sloping at an angle of approximately 10 degrees from east to west
