Unit 23144
Category: Layer dug in 2017
Area: North
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous
Description: Room infill B-139
Discussion: Unit exposed in the western part of the building after remove the packing/leveling layers placed for the construction of B-131 (U23110=23090=23084 and 23131). This layer had been only properly excavated in the southern part of the building (2.8 m x 1.6) m). In the northern part, the rest of the remains had been removed with the arbitrary layer U23155.
We also want to notice that even we assigned a different unit number for the room infill (U23146) in the side room (Sp. 624) both units should be considered same as.
As we said above, this layer had been only documented in the western part of the building, was abutting the partition wall of B-139 and was truncated by the pit U23147.
So, this unit correspond to the room infill of B-139 and was very compact, light brown and with charcoal, small pieces of building material and natural stones in the composition. We remove the entire deposit as a single unit until we defined the primary room infill (U23153). Anyway when the section exposed was properly cleaned we realize that the room infill was placed at least in two different episodes. The upper part of the deposit is darker and with more inclusions like charcoal or building material and is around 0.50 m deep. The lower part of the deposit was lighter, more compact and cleaner in relation of the inclusions but with more or less the same thickness. At the first moment the lower part of this deposit was interpreted as a primary room infill, but after clean properly de section and exposed the right primary room infill, we confirm that the building was filled with two different layers. As we said above, both deposits were excavated within the same unit, and both seems to be fast deposits regarding to their homogeneity.

So seems obvious that the filling process of the building was done with two different layers in two different moments, of course the time passed between this two different activities is impossible to define. Nevertheless both deposits seems to be fast deposits regarding to their homogeneity.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
X Finds Material: nothing recorded
Finds Material Stored: nothing recorded
