Description: U23497 is the fill of Basin F8514, in the very SE corner of the annex of Building 52, in space 255. 

Discussion: U23497 was revealed after the excavation of Bench F77763, U22298. U23497 is a fill in a negative feature which is probably a basin or a bin. U23497 was very compact, yellow and of marl. 

Consistency: Very compact 

Colour: yellow 

Texture: 50% sand 50% clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: small percentage of grains of aggregates; small percentage of small pieces of charcoal 

Post-depositional Features: Compaction; platform construction (F7763); floor construction 

Basal Boundary: Constructional, very sharp, prominent, smooth, flat and even
