Discussion: No reliable physical characteristics or measurements can be given for this cut, because in real physical terms this context didn't exist. Rather, this context was taken out in order to make stratigraphic sense out of a physical human activity that must have occurred in the past.

When the human bone team discovered that part of skeleton 1955's hand lay physically under skeleton 2169, this meant that 1955, though physically on top of 2169, must have pre-dated 2169. Cut 2176 therefore, once thought to be the primary inhumation cut, now had to be regarded as a recta. 2536 must have been another earlier cut, that was totally re-cut by 2176, leaving virtually no physical trace of 2536 left (although on the 2176 sheet I did note the possibility that because the base of 2176 was uneven, and because the burial contained bones form two other individuals, this may have been a re-cut).
2536 is therefore a ghost feature, a traceless relic of human action in the past.
It has to be stratigraphically below 2176 and 2507 (i.e. a cut cut by two later cuts, without any intervening fill), because whilst some indication of 2536's existence survives, there seems little point in also 'inventing' a fill number too. (

Finds Room Information:

All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.

X Finds Material: nothing recorded

Finds Material Stored: nothing recorded
