Discussion: Midden layer underneath 2846. The north-eastern part of the unit has quite a lot of burnt plant and animal bone remains and is not as clayey as the rest of the unit. Seems to be dropped from one place and then trampled because of the firmness of the soil.
Recognition: Recognized by the dark color of soil (when moist) laying underneath 2846.
Definition: Midden layer located in the NW corner of space 115.
Execution: Trowelled, starting from the south part of the unit.
Condition: Was moist but dried fast because of the sun and heat.
Consistency: Moderately firm.
Colour: Light yellowish brown (page 2.5 Y)
Texture: Sandy clay
Bedding: Massive
Inclusions: about 2% phytoliths, 5% charcoal, 2% salts
Post-depositional Features: some fine roots
Basal Boundary: sharp
