Unit 2890
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: room fill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Continuing room fill in space 112, the new layer (2890) was decided on due to a change in colour and soil texture. In general roughly the same type of material as (2876) but with slightly more bone, shell and charcoal + soil is of richer, darker colour and moist "greasy" texture. Also streaks of other colours in parts, white, yelowish brown and dark brown to dark grey (nu Munsell guide used here). Colour change in band along S wall may indicate new underlying wall. Fill almost has a kitchen debris fill to it.
Recognition: Structural debris infill, change in colour from (1276).
Definition: 1/2 sectioned in N, against S, W and E walls + cut by (2855).
Execution: Arbitrary layer by trowel.
Condition: Moderately dry to moist.
Consistency: moderately loose
Colour: 10 YR 4/6 dark yellowish brown
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: frequent plaster gfrags, building material, occasional charcoal, bone (small to medium) rare shell and hackberrries, frequent salt.
