Unit 30140
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Infill/make-up under plaster in burial platform
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: This unit, comprising different patches of a compact, heterogeneous infill, was found under platform plaster U.30114 and lying on top of another layer of plaster ca.1-2cm thick. It seems to represent, thus, an attempt to raise the height of platform F.638.
The unit slopes towards the burial cut in both its E and W edges and towards the S overall.
There are small (up to 10cm diameter) patches of grey silty clay, mortar-like material. The hollowest spaces of the layer underneath were filled in with red clay, the same type that was found in the S wall undercut.
Consistency: Firm
Colour: Greyish brown to dark brown (heterogeneous material)
Texture: Clay to sandy clay
Bedding: Compound layered
Inclusions: None
Post-depositional Features: Bioturbation (rodent burrowing)
Basal Boundary: Constructional, very sharp
