Discussion: This unit seems to be a small chunk of infill that sits between two different episodes of burning events that may be related to a feature (fire installation) that was truncated during the occupation of B.77.

The unit has the characteristics of room infill with its matrix make-up, but actually may have been used as a make-up layer for this possible installation. Alternatively it marks the disuse/closure of this very badly truncated fire installation. 

 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: light-brown 

Texture: sandy clay loam 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: chunks of building material (mortart, plaster, brick) as well as clay aggregates (orange and grey) and charcoal (<2% but large pieces) 

Post-depositional Features: insect and plant activity 

Basal Boundary: sharp
