Unit 30222
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Pit fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Discussion: The greyish brown color of the pit fill distinguished itself from the surrounding orange soil. The homogeneous nature of the unit suggests that it was dug and filled in rather quickly. However, there does seem to be some diffuse areas in the southern area of the pit fill, possible signs of erosion. The pit f. 3950 cut into the unit. There were pieces of charcoal and plaster found in the pit fill. The unit was excavated using trowel and brush. The western area of the pit fill had a basal boundary that was difficult to determine. From the charcoal, animal bones, and pottery sherds found, it is possible that this fill may have come from cooking refuse.
