Unit 30228

Category: Cut    dug in 2013

Area: TPC

Interpretive Categories: Terracing Cut

Data Category Information: Description: general levelling

Discussion: This cut was identified through obvious cuts made into redeposited mud-brick u. 20267, into wall f. 3952, and by the removal of Roman wall f. 3951. It was dug into the Neolithic mud-brick, presumably to enable the construction of wall f. 3951 and the establishment of a flat living surface associated with this wall. It is extremely straight and visible in the profile of wall f. 3952 and the collapsed mud-brick of u. 20267, and extends straight out from there toward the south.

Shape: Rectangular-- partially delimited by edges of trench

Sides: straight on N edge where wall f.3951 was subsequently built

Base Break: sharp

Base: flat

Orientation: E-W, extending toward South
