Interpretive Categories: Bin infill

Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit

Discussion: Upon excavating U.30300 a bin outline (U.30310) appeared and U.30309 was excavated as this bin's infill, identifed on one side by the bin superstructure, on the other side, not abutted by superstructure, by inference to a mostly round shape, cutting closer to flat (straight between the two tips of the supstructure) rather than extending further out, to a more ovoid shape.

The bin infill was significantly less deep than expexcted, extending down about 1 cm prior to hitting a plaster floor. Given its proximity to floor, and that the floor seemed to run under the superstructure, this infill seems to have been at the base of the bin, the top having been truncated by earlier excavation.

Consistency: Friable to firm; does not crumble.

Colour: Mix of light grey and light brown.

Texture: Silty-clay.

Bedding: Massive.

Inclusions: Bits of floor plaster (minimal).

Post-depositional Features: Weathering, roots.

Basal Boundary: Unit lies above patchy floor; where floor exists, the boundary is sharp, otherwise it is inferred based on general slope, and thus more or less arbitrary.
