Discussion: This is a compact surface located in SE corner of Trench 4. First it was thought to be some kind of floor, but it is more probably remains of the trampled surface associated with the topsoil. It was compact, removed with shovels and contained lots of late pottery. First, a 5 cm of the deposit has been lifted, then when nothing was visible underneath- another 5 cm was removed.

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: charcoal
