Unit 30580
Category: Cluster dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Stone deposition
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Material: stone; Deposition: primary deposition; Basal Spit: One tarsal bos bone, pottery
Discussion: It was recognized as a cluster of stones in the junction of the bin walls to F3698 and the S of F3688, more specifically U20904, 20905,. It seems to have been a stone deposit on the floor level. The cluster continues one more course and is associated with packed soil (u.30582), which is also underneath.
The first course of cluster has two concentrations; one in the corner of F.3698 - F.3688 and one further east (X1, three stones) containing quern fragments. The stones are fragments of/and tools worn and used; some of them reused after they had broken. One hammerstone had red paint traces. One of the stones in the packing was actually a tarsal cattle bone. This stone cluster was found on a stone/clay packing, and should be associated with the abandonment phase. Probably they represent a deposition, which is also testified by the contextual situation as well as characteristics of the stones (see above).
