Interpretive Categories: Layer with stone cluster 

 

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only)

 

Discussion: This layer was the soil surrounding the stone cluster u.30580, but it was also a packed soil underneath it. It was similar to the layer underneath but not as compact and hard. Probably it originates from the underlying layer and became loosened up by the stones when they were deposited. 

 

Consistency: Soft, friable 

Colour: Orangish brown 

Texture: Clayey silt 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Inclusions of phytoliths 

Post-depositional Features: Animal burrowing 

Basal Boundary: Unclear, diffuse and gradual
