Discussion: This unit was recognized during the removal of u. 20221, a compound heterogeneous fill layer. U. 20221 was packed quite tightly into this cut, which is extremely strage. It looks a bit like two animal dens, but the fact that these dens are so regular and that they do not protrude through wall f. 7177 is curious. Moreover, the compaction of the soil inside the two niches is inconsistent with the normally loose soil in an animal burrow. The shape is essentially that of a tunnel diverging into two tunnels that are capped off toward the East. It appears to be cut into wall f. 7177.
