Unit 30820
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Pit fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: The pit fill was identified in plan view by its differing gray color from the surrounding orange. The fill was a roughly homogeneous texture and color, retaining its brownish grey, friable composition until the basal boundary was reached. The S half of the pit's basal boundary adopted a more orange color while the N part of the boundary remained the same as the rest of the fill. However, we decided to stop in level with the basal boundary of f. 7188 with the similar reasoning that after a wall was identified (in f.7188) the surrounding fill on the same plane could possibly adopt a new context. The profile of the pit was identified by the clear mud bricks of the wall that the pit was cut into. Because copper was found in the pit fill, we know that the age of the pit fill is at least Chalcolithic.
