Unit 30947
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Plaster
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: white clay; Deposition: single
Discussion: This unit is the remains of a plaster floor. It is fragmented and occurs in separated patches on the northern platform. This unit was recognized by its white colors and distinct plaster texture that is fine, chalky, and comes off white on your hands. It is possible that another plaster layer, unit 30946, removed the the southwestern portion of the northern platform is the same plaster floor, but because the plaster floor sections were scattered and separated, it is not possible to know the exact relationship. The basal boundary of this unit was very distinct as it changed in color from the white of the plaster to a dark grey. This unit was hand troweled with a small trowel. This unit was necessary to remove in order to be back in phase in our building.
No flotation because not enough of soil in layer.
