Discussion: This unit, while recognized as a separate unit by its light-mid grey color and composition with some plaster inclusions and patches, was hard to define the boundary of. The shade of grey was very close to that of the bordering platforms and thus determining the reltionships was very difficult. In addition, we began excavation looking for a light yellow-brown layer we could see under the grey layer of this unit in the southwest corner of the platform, but that layer was not present throughout the platform. We found further grey and mixed colored layers, what appears to be an infill near the center of the platform, and a plaster layer only present on the southern protion of the platform that we have tentively theorizied is cut by the possible infill. We ended up deciding that there was a unit on the vertical southern side of the platform, unit 30954, that we need to remove from the southeastern corner that is not actually the same at unit 30950. The hand trowel excavation of this unit was difficult as there was no homogeneous layer underneath to follow.
