Unit 31311
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: oven fill
Data Category Information: Location: building
Description: post Chalcolithic
Discussion: This unit was identified as the oven fill of F.7159, an oven or fire installation. The oven post dates the Chalcolithic, and has been suggested to be Hellenistic. It iwas built against a Neolithic wall. The soil in this pit should be noted as it had a huge variety of colours, and was very, very loose. The other aspect to note is the large amount of pottery recovered, located mainly in the centre of the unit. Both the shape and contents (predominantly pottery) are somewhat unusual for TPC, where another oven was found but its assemblage consisted predominantly of bone. In addition, a large clay object (slightly rounded) was also found in the centre of the pit.
