Interpretive Categories: fire spot, secondary burned deposit

Data Category Information: Description: fire spots (non-structured); Deposition: heterogeneous

Discussion: A deposit of sandy-clay (32025) heavily affected in upper part by the high temperature was revealed under area previously covered by firm preparation layer (U.32024), constituting a raised pedestal of the oven (F.7854).
The complex nature of the burned sediments assigned under the one unit number 32025 remain uncertain. Except for extensive burning that must have taken place on the spot, there were no ash or charcoals found within the layer in expected amount. It seems that the presented locale served as a huge fire-spot without any superstructure, rim or clear constructional rim/edge. The mentioned proceedings might have been only restricted to the east by a shallow cut U.32029.
Although, there was distinct difference in colour recognized between the upper part of the unit (dark-brown) and its lower segment (light-brown, grayish) the same texture allowed to regard the layer as a result of single deliberate deposition. Additionally, during the excavation it appeared that within the deposit there were number of broken, hard backed base fragments evidenced. Further exploration of the deposit revealed also earlier oval cut U.32028 within whom there were recognized remains of badly truncated superstructure (U.32026) and make-up layer U.32027 of an earlier fire installation.

Consistency: friable

Colour: mid-brown in yupper part of the unit caused by hight temperature of fire activities, light-yelow/greyish in lower segment.

Bedding: compund

Inclusions: hard-backed, broken pieces of fire installation's base .

Post-depositional Features:

Basal Boundary: distinct - remains of earlier fire instalation
