Unit 32346
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: levelling
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: plaster; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: the inclusions of fired clay, perhaps to increase the wearability /strength of 32346 suggests that it was a foramtion deposit for a later horizon. Its distinctiveness from 32327 clearly separated 32346 from this context, 32346 = the formation for 32327? BUT why is it present only at the soth west of the sunken area? There was no indictaion that this area was unstable of subsiding. 32366 does sit proud of 32389, perhaps 32346 was a levelling along the edge of 32366 before 32327 was laid. But again why only in this location? 32366 was only present in this location and too may have been a levelling deposit..
There was a slight slope westwards of 32389 and therefore togther with 32366, 32346 can been interpreted as a lelling layer.
