Discussion: A distinct and relatively shallow depression of NS alignment that truncated upper part of badly preserved old wall (F.7149) was assigned as U.32712 and iot must be regarded as foundation cut. Most plausibly the execution of the cut was related with the construction phase of the retention wall (F.7869). The latter had been erected as L-shaped mud-brick structure on top of truncated walls of B.132 (F.7584 and 7149). The retention wall constituted actual bonded corner that restricted accumulation of the sediments within the interior of abandoned Sp.531 and created limit of newly established area used as a burial ground assigned as Sp.602.
As regards to the Cut U. 32712 it was recorded as a linear truncation within the Eastern wall F.7149 of Sp.531. Its base was covered by thin layer of mortar (U.31542) that joint bricks (31541) of the retention wall. Judging by the data the cut was performed only to prepare the proper surface and anchor properly the retention wall on top of slumping (fallen wall (F.7149).
