Dimensions: 33 x 16 cm, up to 2 cm thick
Discussion: Constructional layer of F.279 between two white marly layers.
Recognition: Grey layer on F.279, beneath (3303). Narrow brown strip between 2 layers of white plaster/mortar as removed (3300).
Definition: Uncertain as in parts it overlies a deposit of similar colour and probably similar texture and is difficult to see due to the shape of F.279.
Execution: Leaf trowel.
Condition: Sheltered, hot and windy.
Consistency: friable
Colour: 10 YR 5/3 brown
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: salting, occ. clay aggregates (dark grey/brown) coming through from lower deposit
Post-depositional Features: salts, very common fine roots, erosion, repeated cleaning
Basal Boundary: unclear to N where it meets a similar deposit, clear to E and W overlying white plastery stuff, slightly mixed at base with lower deposit
