Discussion: Small patch of red and brown 'oven debris' SW of platform F.288 and underlying make up deposit (3666). It is the same deposit as the oven debris (2795), (2800) and (2819) recorded to the S and SW in squares Filbert and Gilbert. 

Recognition: Clear layer of hard red and brown material lying below platform make up (3666). 

Definition: Clear colour, consistency and texture contrasts withlayers above and below. 

Execution: Trowel, leaf trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 7.5 YR 5/8 strong brown (red); 10 YR 3/3 dark brown (brown) 

Texture: silty clay loam 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: none apparent 

Post-depositional Features: none apparent 

Basal Boundary: clear/smooth/anthropogenic/sloping very slightly down to the W
