Dimensions: 0.32 m E-W x 0.1 m N-S; 0.03 m deep 

Discussion: Small patch of beige silty material lying below oven debris (3676). Possibly a layer of make up for floor (3355) though relationship with this layer unclear during excavation, partly because of truncation by all layers in this area by pit cut (2758). 

Recognition: Small patch of smooth surfaced pale brow/beige material recognised following removal of oven debris (3676). 

Definition: Surface: very clear contrasts with oven debris above. Smooth clear contrast at base with slightly more orange material below. 

Execution: Trowel, leaf trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 2.5 Y 6/3 light yellowish brown 

Texture: silt loam 

Bedding: massive but incluidng one very small chalk lense 

Inclusions: 1% charcoal flecks, 2% small bone fragments 

Post-depositional Features: truncated by pit cut (2758), salts 

Basal Boundary: smooth/clear/anthropogenic/sloping very slightly down to the W
