Dimensions: 0.94 m E/W x 0.8 m N/S x max 0.04 m thick 

 

Discussion: Plaster scim overlying mixed plaster and silt feature beneath and following contours of cut feature (3658). 

 

Recognition: White plaster deposit at base of bin 257 in N. Not sure at first whether it was plaster base of bin or other feature. 

Definition: Overlies other plaster/silt layers to W. Abutts plaster on wall to S. Continues into baulk section in E where it is overlain by other plaster + grey silt layers. Tapers and stops to N just before where bin walls were. 

Execution: Leaf and baulk sectioned in S + N. 

Condition: Hot, covered. 

Consistency: strong 

Colour: 2.5 YR 8/1 white 

Texture: clay 40%, silt 50%, fine sand 10% (but it's what we've been calling plaster) 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 5% white salts <1 mm, 2% charcoal flecks up to 4 mm but mainly smaller,1% burnt silt/clay flecks <1 mm 

Post-depositional Features: salts, possibly top was truncated by (3352) but not known, truncated SE by (2707) 

Basal Boundary: surface; smooth,slightly concave, anthropogenic; base; difficult to follow against other plaster layer (over exc.in SW) but generally distinct as layer below has charcoal lenses, smooth, curved down onto bowl shape in E
