Recognition: Colour change from previous unit (3877), directly above.
Definition: Defined by limit of excavation.
Execution: Leaf trowel and patience.
Condition: Dry.
Consistency: medium compacted, friable
Colour: very patchy 7.5 YR 4/4 brown, also reddish patches and dark grey in areas
Texture: silty clay, slightly ashy
Bedding: compound layered
Inclusions: charcoal pieces 1 mm 10%
Post-depositional Features: animal hole in SE part of excavation area
Basal Boundary: diffuse, contrast faint, surfaces uneven
