Discussion: Small thin spread of material at south of space 117 overlying ashy (oven rake-out) layers though not obviously burnt itself. Overlies another small deposit and laps up against wall of oven F269. Unclear as to what the material is - probably just a small dump made following abandonment of the space. 

Recognition: Mottled layer above more substantial ashy deposits 

Definition: Quite clear, especially where it abutts F269 

Execution: Trowel 

Condition: Compact, slightly moist 

Consistency: Firm 

Colour: Mottled dark grey and brown 

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Occasional bone fragments 

Post-depositional Features: Occasional insect and root holes 

Basal Boundary: Clear, smooth, anthropic
