Discussion: This layer of infill was previously thought to be wall 402 (1998), however on exavation it turned out to be fill. This layer of fill was partially plastered on the eastern side (4268). The plaster seemed to lip round slightly off wall 401, however, there was quite a bit of plaster at the base of this unit so it may have just been a lump in the fill.

( 14/6 During post-ex. I've interpreted this as fill of construction cut 4336 for wall 403. This is based on the fact that the deposit was recognised as different to infill excavated in 1998 in space 159 but at that stage we didn't realise space 160 was later + cut into 159, only when putting cuts through walls 400 + 401 together did it make sense that this infill is same as 4285 but dug backwards last year. Plaster 4268 doesn't make sense unless it too formed part of the F.T. cut + we saw this backward too. (SF))
