Discussion: Mottled upper fill of a small burial, lying in the upper part of cut 4431, overlying basket lid 4423. Originally to cover an area 0.6m (N-S) by 0.32m (E-W) but on excavation found only to cover an area 0.31m (N-S) by 0.19m (E-W). 

Recognition: Mottled fill surrounded by faint white line 

Definition: Clear line around edge 

Execution: trowel and fine conservation tools 

Condition: Dry and crumbly 

Consistency: Friable 

Colour: Mottled dark brown, grey, reddish brown, beige 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: occasional (less than 5% charcoal flecks and small bones) 

Post-depositional Features: Some root and occasional animal disturbance 

Basal Boundary: Clear, smooth, anthropic
