Discussion: General infilling / makeup layer below building 18 / space 181 (level X). Mellaarts section labels this level XI but I don't think he means that it is a building.

Definition: walls / limit of excavation / deep sounding 

Execution: trowel / mattock / top spit removed then stepped in 

Condition: moist 

Consistency: soft 

Colour: mixed, mainly light greyish brown 

Texture: mixed, predominantly slightly clayey silt

Inclusions: occasional charcoal flecks, oven ling frags (concentrated in south east - oven below ?, odsidian, stone, clay ball, phytoliths 

Post-depositional Features: truncated in 1960's, scorched by F.I.'s above, roots, salts 

Basal Boundary: arbitrary
