Unit description: Priority Unit Flot sample 2770, 2771, 2772 - analyzed. Layer between 'stabling' deposit and floors of Building 18 (space 171/181). As well as the three flotation samples there was a small amount of dry sieved material. The colour is light to medium brown with a small amount of burnt material. There is a range of weathering, and a small amount of burning. Taxa range from 02 to 07, no particular elements are represented. The fragment size is slightly higher than for makeup/fill and there may be a hgiher density of material. Overall the material is midden like, except that only the smaller pieces are represented - perhaps leveled midden? There are a very few small bones including part of a weasel-sized tibia and the phalanx of a moderately small animal. Both of these were bagged with the microfauna.
