Discussion: In this unit, when I found the original floor, I thought that the collapsed layer might be Mellart backfill. Also, some of the plastery blocks, had some gaps where they've fallen on to each other. There were burnt human bones, (some red painted), and animal bones imbetween them, but also - they were just broken pieces and scattered. I saw some flecks of red paint frags. in this top fill (Mell.)
Recognition: Irregular lumps of plaster material in front of the wall.
Definition: Uneven whitish/beige lumps.
Execution: Trowel/hand-pick.
Condition: Damp.
Consistency: Loose / soft to firm.
Colour: Light yellowish beige / white, and some dk. brown, small patches of mud-brick?
Texture: Silty clay - clay 80%.
Bedding: Massive.
Inclusions: Bone 2%, white siliceous 2% + <5%, brick and plaster frags., plant impressions (chopped), charcoal <2%.
Post-depositional Features: Generally compact. Very rare small insect disturbance.
Basal Boundary: Clear, wavy, anthropic boundary.
