Unit description: F1 is a fragment of a bone ring. A little recorded for Bayliss radiocarbon study. 2014 RECORDING (JW and HF: 30-6-2014): recording measurable Bos, sex-able O/C, and non-O/C taxa, starting at F9. Large midden unit with predominantly sheep-sized taxa, but a significant amount of large shaft fragments as well. Sheep body-size distribution is relatively even, with fewer fragmented teeth and astragali than expected; there are several complete epiphyseal ends of adult sheep, though. Cattle-size remains seem focused more on phalanges and heavily-fragmented long bone shafts, though there are several teeth remains (again, relatively few heavily-fragmented teeth). Pig, equid, and canid remains include phalanges and teeth. One bird radius was also noted. These trends are based on the partial recording scheme, so is not necessarily exhaustive. Long bone fragments are not very heavily processed, though there are many fewer epiphyses. NOTE: two relatively-complete distal sheep tibia have been sub-bagged because of their suitability for CSG archaeological application.
