Discussion: In the north west corner of space 173/ 182 in both 4921 and 4947 (here the division was somewhat arbitrary) were a number of relatively large lumps of collapsed brick and plaster (see sketch plan for 1 of these). Around and between these usually as a thin (c 1cm) layer of crushed bone between these blocks, were found the rodent remains. They may represent owl pellets fallen in with the collapse but their stratified nature indicate it was within some sort of mortar that also included organics visible as phytoliths. 

Recognition: Recognised as coherent deposit of crushed rodent bone among brick/ plaster tumble at interface (approximately) between 4921 and 4947 

Definition: Intially collected as samples within 4921; then given separate cluster number for larger amount within 4947 

Execution: Trowel and pick (to take a larger block) 

Condition: Dry
