Dimensions: 0.33m (ew) x 0.88m (ns) x 0.04m deep 

Discussion: [5195] was the 'inner' lip of the earliest phase of oven F555. There is no obvious reason for its place in the structure of the base at this time. It curved against the large foundation / base deposit [5197] + lay within/benath the larger lip/arm of the oven [5190] to its west. Perhaps it was the initial lip/apron/entrance to the oven, that was later added to + extended by the 'apron' [5190]. 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: mid brown 

Texture: clayey silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: occasional shells, phytoliths, flecks of charcoal + plaster + tiny pebbles with a thin skim of ash on the surface 

Post-depositional Features: salt encrustation 

Basal Boundary: sharp, smooth, distinct, sloping from N to S
