Unit 6112
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Room Fill
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: A new unit number for sp.158 infill. Mostly cohs. rubble (bricks!). Underneath already visible a layer of ashy deposit which will probably be given a new unit number in the N part of the unit, cleaning area in front of the earliest known part of F.171 revealed a "floorlike" surface in continuation of Fcat.171. (abbuting it). S of the …… . it reappears under 6123 (ashy), but that is all the same anyway, the difference is only in the percentage of ash/charcoal I.e. their from the epicentre (6116).
S4 & S5 should probably be assigned to unit 6116 as they are chunks of cons. rubble lying directly onto ash of 6116.
All of this mat. which is mixed w/charcoal & ash is same as: 6116,6113,6123.
By the end, ash & mixed mat. which was supposed to be in units 6123 & 6116 was also collected as 6112.

Unit description: A small sample was recovered from the dry sieve and consisted of mainly of bones from sheep-sized animals. 4mm flotation sample #1 was completely recorded because of the small sample size of the material from the dry sieve and its unusual composition. Fish (including some burnt material) and microfauna were both well represented, two bones could be identified as bird and there were also numerous parts of a neonatal/infantile caprine. Part of a worked piece was also recovered from the flotation and is the same as 3537.F106 although the break is modern. {This has been recorded as 3537.F106. I hope these were adjacent units. -NR 2001} Last number = 65Figurine Records: Yes
