Unit 7963
Category: Layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: truncated bin wall
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: bin; Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This unit is the northern most plastered wall of the bin in feature 1652. The wall is cut on the western side, where the western corner would have been, and this is probably the same wall at 7964. The east end of the wall is truncated down to the level of the plaster floor or un it 7959. It is unclear if the wall ever extended all the way to the wall on the eastern end as there is no scaring on the southern wall to indicate that a bin had ever been there. It is possible that the thin plaster line disussed in unit 7960 was the eastern wall, but there is no scaring on the souther wall there either. This unit is the same phase as 7959, 7960, 7961 and 7964. It is built over and cuts into 7966 and 7967. Unit 7965 cuts into 7963 at its western edge.
Recognition: Plaster wall on northern end of bin
Definition: northern-most edge of bin, plasted
