Discussion: E-W aligned bench against each wall with gap between wall and east end of c. 0.15 m (could be excavation of 1997 or deliberate gap for something upright?). Sits on an earlier wider bench, at this phase shrunk to one brick width. Western end alighns to platforms north and south with step to sunken floor area!
Only two courses survive with thin traces of mortar but nothing substantial, could be spread of grey ashy lens at interface of brick courses.
Recognition: By colour, be delineation of upstanding structure.
Definition: Defined by summit team 1997.
Execution: In plan.
Condition: Relatively complete, good condition, slightly eroded edges due to exposure since 1997.
Consistency: Moderately loose
Colour: mid orange brown
Texture: blocky
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: very occasional chalk fleck
Post-depositional Features: few roots, eroded at surface and sides - probably as a result of excavation in 1997.
Basal Boundary: Clear, anthropogenic/constructional.
