Unit description: A moderate amount of bone was recovered from unit 1057, a layer within a dump. The material has low integrity, being a mixture of animals with caprine, equid and pig all forming significant portions of the identifiable material, cattle and some carnivore bones were also present in lower numbers. The bone is moderately fragmented, very little had been burnt and digested bone is present in low proportions. The bone from the 4mm flotation samples #1 and 2 was recorded for diagnostics only. An additional bag of flotation material without a sample or flot number was also recorded. All the samples were similar to the material from the dry sieve suggesting that the deposit was relatively homogeneous. A few fish bones were found in the sample with no number. Three pieces of worked bone were recovered, a polished piece of flat bone, probably mandible, a point and from the flotation sample, half a pierced piece of oval shaped bone, possibly a bead.
